Paris Hilton's younger brother sent to hospital for psychiatric evaluation after he hurls abuse in court

Conrad Hilton, the younger brother of Paris Hilton, has been sent to a psychiatric hospital after he started ranting and hurling abuse during a court appearance. He was in court on Wednesday to face trial for stealing a Bentley Continental from the house of an ex-girlfriend's father, before driving to another home in the Hollywood Hills to find her.

The 23-year-old heir to the hotel empire, stood in the dock shouting and hurling homophobic abuse. In the video shared by TMZ, Conrad can be seen screaming: "So f*****g gay".

Hilton was represented by Robert Shapiro whose clients have included OJ Simpson and Phil Spector. Conrad was granted bail set at $90,000 (£70,000) on the condition that he is placed in the Menninger Hospital in Houston, Texas.

He will return to the court on June 29th, and if convicted, he faces four years in jail, prosecutors say. Conrad has previously served two months in jail for using cocaine while on probation and for threatening British Airways flight attendants.
