Photo: "They made me a widow at 20" Woman whose husband was killed in Rivers state 2015 election demands justice

Ijeoma Mbamalu, a resident of Rivers state, has demanded for justice over the gruesome murder of her husband by some political thugs during the 2015 election in Rivers state.

Ijeoma was part of a delegation from the state who submitted a petition at the National Humanrights Commission yesterday May 8th. Ijeoma whose face was not allowed to be on camera, narrated how some political thugs
dressed in military attire, killed her husband and made her a widow at 20.

"They were many with weapons and guns. They appeared with Army camouflage with a red cap. I couldn't recognise any of them. At the age of 20 they made me a widow. I want justice".
One other resident, Precious Odimegwu, who also submitted a petition before the commission, in an emotional voice, narrated how her husband and three children were gruesomely murdered during the election. All of them demanded for justice.

The residents stated that interparty conflicts led to the gruesome murder of many residents. Recall that in 2015, the state governorship election contested by the incumbent governor, Nyesom Wike PDP and Dakuku Peterside of APC, was largely characterised by violence
