BREAKING News: Nigerian Governors Make Final Decision Over the Sack of Adeosun & Udoma

Nigerian governors at Aso Rock meeting

In the absence of President Buhari who is away in New York, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo on Thursday held the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting with state governors and other council members in Abuja. A vote of confidence has been passed today, September 22, by Governors of the federal republic of Nigeria on the Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma and her Finance counterpart, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, saying they were not responsible for plunging the country into recession.

According to a report by Vanguard, during today's meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC), presided over by Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, at the State House in Abuja, the governors, who passed their confidence on the two ministers, absolved them of any blame in the declining economy.

The state governors reasoned that if anything, the two ministers should be commended for their sagacity in reviving the ailing economy occasioned by failing oil price, Nigeria’s major income earner, over the years.

About 23 State Governors were in attendance for the meeting.

The state governors include Ekiti – Ayo Fayose, Kebbi – Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Delta – Ifianyi Okowa, Bauchi – Abubakar Mohammed, Anambra – Willy Obiano, Enugu – Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Kwara – Abdufatah Ahmed, Kogi – Yahaya Bello, Kaduna – Nasir el-Rufai, Ondo – Olusegun Mimiko, Sokoto – Aminu Tambuwal, Oyo – Abiola Ajimobi, Jigawa – Badaru Abubakar.

Among the State deputy governors at the meeting are Rivers, Nasarawa, Katsina, Lagos.

The governors' vote of confidence, have now rubbished the call from some National Assembly lawmakers for the removal of the two ministers, whom they accused of not knowing what to do in order to bail the nation out of the economic crisis.
