A man is being made to pay for his criminal ways after he was found out to have s*xually assaulted a young girl. A 29-year-old printer, Luke Adeyemi, has been arraigned before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, for allegedly r*ping his neighbour’s 12-year-old daughter.
DailyPost reports that the accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of defilement and attempted rape preferred against him.
According to the prosecutor, Sergeant Lucky Ihiehie, the complainant, the father of the victim, reported the incident to the Ketu Police Station.
He explained that the accused had defiled his daughter by having carnal knowledge of her.
Ihiehie said the complainant told the police that his daughter revealed to him that the accused had done it to her twice in his house.
“The first time was on Sept. 17 when she went to his house to borrow a phone charger and he dragged her into his room.
“The second time was about two weeks ago when she was sent on an errand by her mother to their landlord.”
The offences contravened Sections 137 and 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
Council to the accused, A.O. Olusegun, urged the court to be leniet and grant him bail.
The Magistrate, O. Sule-Amzat, in her ruling, granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum, one of whom must be a blood relation of the accused.
She ordered for a mandatory evidence of tax payments and deposit of N30, 000 each into the Chief Registrar’s account.
The case was adjourned till November 16 for mention.
