A school teacher is being made to pay for his criminal act after he was found out to have r*ped a student. A teacher is being accused of r*ping a shool girl and is being tried in court.
The South African man was arraigned in the Nqutu Magistrates Court for a bail application on Friday.
There was new evidence against him during the appearance.
According to Daily Sun SA, the investigating officer Captain Sibusiso Nsele told the court in Nqutu, KZN that a woman (name withheld) had come forward claiming the teacher made her pregnant in 2002.
The woman said she was only 16 and a pupil at the school where he worked.
The teacher made headlines in August when videos of him allegedly poking pupils went viral.
At his appearance on Friday, the case was postponed to this Friday.
His bail application took the whole day because of the new evidence.
Captain Nsele said: “The woman said she was ready to testify because the teacher used to beat her. She said once he brought another young woman to his house while she was there and poked them in front of each other.”
But the teacher’s lawyer, Wesley Rogers, said the information given by the investigating officer didn’t add up, as the woman who claimed he had made her pregnant would have been 22, and not 16, in 2002.
Education department official Nkosinathi Kheswa said the teacher doesn’t seem to have a qualification.
“We’ve checked with Unisa, where he claimed to have obtained his qualification, but they said his name was not on their records,” said Kheswa.
“The teacher also defrauded the department of a R900 subsidy by claiming he was paying a bond while he was actually living in a cottage at the school.”
It was also found that he lived at KwaMashu Hostel for a long time and while he was there, charges of robbery and illegal possession of a firearm were recorded against him.
