Ondo Election: Akeredolu Dealt Massive Blow in Governorship Race....See New Development

Rotimi Akeredolu

One of the prominent youth movements in Ondo State has turned its back on the All Progressives Congress gubernatorial candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu, according to emerging reports. Akoko Youth Alliance (AYA) a political movement which supported the candidacy of Mr. Rotimi ‎Akeredolu (SAN) in 2012 has declared it’s support for the Alliance for ‎Democracy and it’s leading aspirant Olushola Oke who has been accused of being a 'political harlot' due to his serial defection from one political party to the other.

The youth group which campaigned for Akeredolu against Olusegun Mimiko in 2012, ‎however, said they are supporting Oke’s ambition based on conviction and principle, insisting that Akeredolu’s ambition has lost focus.

‎AYA in a statement after an emergency all inclusive general meeting held in Irun Akoko on Sunday, said it resolve to shun ethnicity and tribal sentiment in taking its decision according to The Nation.

The statement signed by it publicity secretary Ayokunle Oloye said the meeting resolved to support Olushola Oke’s candidacy after deliberating on the agendas of all contenders in the forth coming governorship election.

He said the decision to support Olushola Oke ‎is for the betterment and growth of Akoko region and the entire state.

The group said Oke has always been supportive of young people and youth initiatives in the state. Oke has been heavily criticised over the instability of party membership in recent times.

It would be recalled the Oke defected to the All Progressives Congress from the People's Democratic Party, PDP shortly after the presidential election loss of former President Goodluck Jonathan.

He later defected to A.D after failing to scale through the primary election of the APC.
