A Malawian muslim woman has left President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of Uganda in shock and embarrassment after she refused to shake his hands in public. The President who obviously was unaware that a Muslim woman is not allowed to shake a man, had extended his hands for a hand shake when the incident happened.
The incident happened while opening the Partnership for Aflatoxin Control in Africa meeting in Entebbe last week, president Museveni was shocked when Malawian delegate refused to shake his hand.
As some delegates were scrambling to get a handshake with President Museveni, this lady dressed in Muslim Hijab appeared scared of his hand and refused to touch it.
After Museveni had taken a group photo with the delegates and shaking hands, he noticed that one of them from Malawi was avoiding him.
He then called her closer, extended his arm to greet her, but she declined the president’s handshake.
