Justice Danladi Umar
Senate President, Bukola Saraki's ploy to derail his prosecution at the Code of Conduct Tribunal over false declaration of assets has hit the rocks. The motion filed by the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, asking the Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Danladi Umar, to disqualify himself from his trial has failed.
The motion was dismissed on Wednesday. In dismissing the motion, Umar said he cannot disqualify himself from the trial on the ground that without him, there can be no tribunal.
According to him, it is only the President and a two-third of the National Assembly that can remove him from office.

Saraki's trial is deemed to continue accordingly inspite of the dilly-dally status since commencement last year.
