A top police boss has been disgraced and harassed by three junior officers who tortured and assaulted him. A dramatic incident took place recently in Likoni, Mombasa County, after a senior National Intelligence Service (NIS) officer in Kenya was arrested and tied to a post by junior officers.

According to The Kenyans, Rajab Mwamchiri, who is based in Ngong, Kajiado County, was reportedly handcuffed by Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officers who mistook him for a criminal following an altercation with a trader.

Mr Mwamchiri while speaking about the incident said he had gone to demand his music system worth Sh82,000 from a local electrician who had attempted to defraud him only for the electrician to call three CID officers complaining that he was an intruder.

Without asking questions, the  The three CID officers immediately arrived, arrested and tied him to an electric post despite the officer disclosing his position.

“One of them pointed a gun at me and threatened to shoot me if I continued wrestling them. I was quiet and cool but my hands were painful,” narrated the NIS boss.

Luck smiled on him as he was rescued by members of the public who identified him and confronted the arresting officers who had been sent from Likoni Police Station.

The angry crowd threatened to attack the officers and burn the government vehicle they were using, prompting two of the CID detectives to run for safety.

Mwachiro accused the electrician of colluding with the authorities to con him, promising to seek legal redress for being manhandled like a criminal.

“I was appalled by the move of this electrician to use police officers to threaten somebody who is asking for justice. I was not armed by then. We could have been talking a different story,” affirmed the boss.

Confirming the incident, Likoni Deputy police boss Anthony Shimoli stated that the NIS boss was apprehended after the businessman reported that someone was trying to con him.

“We realized he is an NIS officer and we later on released him,” Mr Shimoli explained.
