Lagos City Marathon winner, Abraham Kiptum
For the second time in a row, Kenyan runner, Abraham Kiptum has won the Lagos City Marathon in style. The 2017 edition of the Lagos City Marathon competition has again been won by a Kenyan man. The 42-kilometre race with a prize tag of $50,000 was won by Abraham Kiptum with a time of 2 hours, 15 minutes. Ronny Kipkoech Kiboss and Kiprotich Kiroi came second and third respectively.

Last year, Kiptum won the star prize as he came first in the first edition of the competiton in 2016 with a time of 2 hours, 16 minutes and 19 seconds. This year's competition attracted over 20,000 runners gunning for the top prize.
Tanui Rodah won the female category
In the female category, Tanui Rodah emerged the winner of the competition with a time of 2 hours 37 minutes, followed by Fridah Lodepa and Alice Timbilili in second and third place respectively. Nigeria's Babalola Hannah won the wheelchair race.

The Marathon was sponsored by Access Bank and the Lagos state government with the support of other affiliate companies.
