For aiding cheating among students during WASSCE exams, five school principals have been seriously humiliated in Ebonyi. Five principals in public secondary schools in Ebonyi State have been demoted to classroom teachers for allegedly aiding examination malpractices in their schools, Punch Metro reports.

The Commissioner for Education, Prof. John Eke, disclosed this to newsmen on Friday while monitoring the 2017 West African Senior School Certificate Examination.

The demotion of the principals followed reports of their conduct during the 2016 WASSCE in their schools.

Eke said that out of the 20 schools indicted, five of them were public schools, while 15 of them were private schools.

The principals of the five public schools were indicted by the National Committee on WAEC Examination malpractices.

According to the commissioner, 35 other principals of public secondary schools were given strong warning letters, while 25 supervisors were placed on half salary for a period of three months for their involvement in examination malpractices last year.
