The suspect's stepdad, Vernon Williams said the family are struggling to come to terms with what he said was a freak accident.

"He said, 'Daddy, I'm sorry. It was an accident. I'm sorry, Dad'", Vernon told WSVN 7 News as he revealed how Martaevious told him of the shooting.
Distressed Vernon added: "I can't fault anyone for this here. It happened."
