Gunmen have caused serious panic in a Bayelsa state community after trailing a young graduate and killing him on the spot. Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers have killed a 30-year-old Engineering graduate and dispossessed him of his money and other valuable items in Bayelsa State, Punch Metro reports.

It was learnt that the incident occurred on Saturday evening on Melford Okilo Road in the INEC/Kpansia area of Yenagoa metropolis.

The victim, whose name was given as Samuel Collins, is said to be a graduate of engineering from the University of Benin, Edo State.

Collins was said to have been accosted by the hoodlums at INEC Road junction on his way to the Nigerian Content Development and Management Board’s office on Isaac Boro Expressway, where he was reportedly undergoing training.

Some eyewitnesses at the scene claimed the young man was gunned down when he tried to drag his phones and valuables from his assailants.

An eyewitness said Collins was shot by the gunmen at a close range on his head.

He said the bullets from the hoodlums’ guns ruptured the victim’s head resulting in large quantity of blood gushing out of his brain.

It was gathered that the hoodlums, who abandoned the lifeless body of their victim, fled the scene after making away with his phone, money and other valuables.

It was further learnt that before help could come to the victim, he had given up the ghost.

Some of his friends, who spoke to Southern City News, described the murdered Collins as an easy-going and brilliant young man.
