The tank driver saved several lives
A fearless tank driver has been captured on tape risking his life to attempt to stop a suicide attack on an expressway. A video has shown the moment a brave tank driver risked his life to save others by driving into a car packed with explosives.
Shocking CCTV footage of the attack in Egypt has been released showing his fearless actions.
Seven people died when the car bomb exploded at a checkpoint in the Sinai Peninsula, but officials believe many more would have been killed were it not for the tank.
The clip shows the vehicle approaching the desert checkpoint.
Inside are four gunmen and 200lbs of explosives headed towards a cluster of cars and people.
But the tank spots the danger and heads towards the bomb, stopping it in its tracks.
It then drives over the car, crushing it, before driving away.
Seconds later the car bomb explodes, killing seven people nearby.
But by stopping the car before it reached the checkpoint, a spokesman for the Egyptian army believes the tank saved up to 50 lives.
