The family of a former Inspector General of Police, Gambo Jimeta, have reacted to the news of the alleged death of the nation's former police boss. Reports made rounds online earlier today that former Nigerian Inspector General of Police, Gambo Jimeta, allegedly died in the early hours of Wednesday in Abuja.
In a swift reaction to the news, the Gambo Jimeta family, reached out to PREMIUM TIMES who exclusively broke the story, saying that the former police chief is not dead.
"A source very close to the family had initially informed us of the reported death leading to our earlier story. The family, however, say the report is not true and the former police chief is still alive," PT reports.
"Mr Jimeta’s daughter, a public servant, was one of those who confirmed that her father was still alive on Wednesday afternoon."
