Shehu Sani Storms Kaduna Market After Governor El-Rufai Challenged Him For A Popularity Contest (Photos)

Senator Shehu Sani at the Kaduna central market

Nigerian senator, Shehu Sani has rubbished claims by Governor Nasir El-Rufai that he would be lynch should he ever go near the popular Kaduna central market in the state. The senator representing Kaduna central, Shehu Sani has responded to the popularity test thrown at him by Nasir el-Rufai, governor of Kaduna state by storming the popular Kaduna Central market.

Recall that El-Rufai had challenged Sani to a popularity contest, saying angry traders would lynch the lawmaker if he visits the Kaduna central market.

The governor said this while addressing reporters in Abuja on Monday.

He had said: “Shehu Sani cannot even campaign in the market. I challenge him, let us go to Kaduna Central Market and let’s see who will come out unscathed.”

However, on Tuesday, Sani visited the market without any security guard. He urged the governor to do the same.

Accompanied by his aides, Sani went round parts of the market as he was being hailed and cheered by the traders.

The governor and Sani have been at loggerheads since 2015.

Their animosity worsened after the national working committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) granted automatic ticket to Sani and screened out Uba Sani, el-Rufai’s preferred candidate for the senatorial seat.
