The suspect was remanded at the Oke- Kura Custodial Centre while the case was adjourned until March 24, 2023. Dr. Abas Adio Adeyemi, the former Chief Medical Director of Kaiama General Hospital in Kwara State, has been remanded in custody.
An Ilorin Magistrate Court remanded him in prison for the alleged murder of several people.
After hearing the prosecutor's submission, Magistrate Muhammed Ibrahim remanded the suspect to the Oke- Kura Custodial Centre and adjourned the case until March 24, 2023.
According to a police investigation, Dr. Abas allegedly murdered Nasifat Halidu, a worker at the Kaiama General Hospital, and hid her body in a waste bin kept in his store before pouring concrete cement on her.
Similarly, the suspect allegedly murdered Olanipekun Ifeoluwa Ibukun and dumped her body in the bush in Alapa, Asa Local Government Area, Kwara State.
The suspect allegedly confessed to seducing one Abubakar, a Fulani boy, before handing him over to his syndicate, and the victim has yet to be found.
The suspect also admitted to being involved in the death of a young lady, whom he buried in a shallow grave in his hospital office, which he covered with tiles to avoid suspicion.
During police investigations, it was also revealed that Dr. Abas and his accomplice murdered one Abdulazeez Saliu after luring and borrowing N15 million from him.
The state Police commissioner, Paul Odama, stated while arraigning the 36-year-old suspect in Ilorin on Monday evening, February 20, 2023, that the doctor also harvested organs from some of his victims.
According to the CP, the command is closing in on other members of the syndicate involved in the crime.
